Acrylic on Paper - Meditations on Life

 

These smaller acrylic pieces utilize thin improvised layers that result in a glassy effect to form "vibrating" ghost layers.  If they were made using sound I think they would form a "vibrato" musical effect. 

 

Artists through history (such as Kandinksy and Klee) compared musical notes, composition techniques with colour presentation.  Some of these artists were also accomplished musicians with a professional insight into how colours can be woven as sound building multi-dimensional presentations.  Tonal effects can be effective in both sound and colour as contrast is added (such as "warm" colours/tones contrasted with "cool" colours and tones) blurring the lines between the visual and auditory - described in some situations as the effect of "synesthesia." 

 

With that thought in mind my ambition is to create worlds, stories, imbued with a sense of life and story that exist deep into the thin painted surface that transcend the art surface.
